With over 25 years of experience, Dr. Hall is a highly skilled, board-certified psychiatrist specializing in treating a broad range of psychiatric conditions. She has worked in various clinical settings, including outpatient, inpatient, partial hospitalization, and hospital consultation, and is known for her thorough and compassionate approach to care. Dr. Hall believes that understanding each individual deeply is key to determining whether psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, or a combination of both will best support their goals.
In 2024, Dr. Hall was honored as a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (APA), a prestigious recognition of her outstanding contributions to the field.
Dr. Hall earned her undergraduate degree from Williams College and went on to receive her medical degree from the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn. She completed her general psychiatry residency at New York University (NYU) and Bellevue Hospital in New York City. In addition, Dr. Hall has held faculty appointments at both NYU and Brown University.
For a decade, Dr. Hall served as the Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at Newport Hospital, where she also held leadership roles as the Medical Director of the Inpatient Unit and the Partial Hospitalization Program, as well as President of the Hospital Medical Staff.
In addition to her foundational training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic therapy, Dr. Hall pursued advanced training in psychoanalysis at the NYU Psychoanalytic Institute and completed Intensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Training in Seattle. She is also certified as a Life Coach through The Life Coach School, and integrates coaching techniques alongside her eclectic psychotherapy approach to provide personalized care.
Grounded in the principles of Nonviolent Communication, Dr. Hall emphasizes clear and compassionate communication, fostering empathy in her patients’ relationships. She also has a strong commitment to the care of transgender and gender-diverse individuals, offering specialized support for their mental health and well-being.
Dr. Hall is licensed to practice psychiatry in Rhode Island, Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia, and is available to see patients located in any of those jurisdictions via telehealth.
