Parenting Neurodivergent Kids Support Group
Caregivers of neurodivergent children (of all ages) will come together to discuss parenting successes and missteps, share tips and tricks, and seek guidance and advice. This group will be a support-based, safe space for caregivers to feel seen and accepted as they navigate neurodivergence with their kids outside of the sessions. This group will be for caregivers of neurodivergent children, keeping in mind their unique strengths and vulnerabilities, and the challenges that can come with helping neurodivergent children navigate a predominately neurotypical world. The therapist will engage more or less, based on the desires and needs of the group. The therapist will provide psychoeducation, structure, and guidance based on the group’s identified needs and wants.
Adult Neurodiversity Affirming Support Groups
In our Neurodiversity Affirming Support Groups, neurodivergent adults meet to support each other. Each group is matched based on age, gender identity, and desired support. Each group works together to establish goals and topics of discussion. These might include supporting each other in navigating a predominantly neurotypical world, identifying internalized ableism, learning more about different neurotypes, sharing tips and tricks for managing day to day frustrations, supporting each others’ experiences in school and work, and/or navigating relationships. Our therapist facilitators ensure a safe, affirming space where neurodivergent adults can interact and support each other. Therapists will engage more or less, based on the desires of each group. They are available to provide psychoeducation, structure, and guidance based on each group’s identified needs and wants.
Affirming Autistic Adults Group
LGBTQ+ Parenting Group
The Affirming Autistic Adults Group is for self-identified and/or clinically diagnosed autistic folks ages 18 and up to support each other in community with therapeutic support. Members are matched based on shared lived experience. Members design the group’s rules, goals, and activities together. Content may include connecting over shared passions, co-regulating, navigating a predominately neurotypical world, healing internalized ableism, exploring the intersection of autism and other identities/needs (ie queerness, disability, race, etc.), sharing tips for managing day-to-day difficulties, and holding space for emotions. The therapist leading the group (me!) is autistic themselves and aims to create a non-hierarchical atmosphere. They are available to provide psychoeducation, structure, and guidance based on the group’s identified needs and wants. The group will meet virtually, every other Wednesday at 5 pm for 60 minutes.
