Rachel brings years of experience working with children, adolescents, families, and schools to WBMA. She has diverse training experiences, including approaches in trauma, attachment, parent-child relationship engagement, and play-based techniques. Rachel believes in the power of the therapeutic relationship to facilitate change, growth, and insight.
The main component in any therapeutic work is the underlying relationship and the feelings of safety, trust, acceptance, and warmth. Rachel goes above and beyond to nurture the therapeutic relationship. She develops a safe space where clients feel supported and accepted. This approach fosters trust in the therapeutic relationship and enables her clients to share their inner thoughts and feelings. Rachel creates strong connections with her clients and their families.
Rachel works with children and adolescents (ages 4-18) experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, and low self-esteem. She also has experience providing parenting support and is trained in Filial Play Therapy and SPACE. Through a relational and supportive approach, she incorporates child-centered play therapy, expressive arts, sand tray, and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy. Her background includes serving in public school settings and outpatient mental health clinics, where she offers individual and group therapy, parenting workshops, crisis intervention, and safety planning.
She also brings specialized competencies in working with diverse populations, including LGBTQIA-affirming and gender-affirming care, with a strong commitment to supporting clients across the full spectrum of sexual and gender diversity.
Rachel is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in currently licensed in Maryland. She received her BA in Psychology at Binghamton University and her MSW at Catholic University.
