Christine Ferris, MSW Candidate

Christine is a Master of Social Work student at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, with extensive experience in mental health and healthcare settings. Before joining Washington Behavioral Medicine Associates, Christine completed her foundation social work internship with the Jewish Coalition Against Domestic Abuse (JCADA). During this internship, she provided trauma-informed support to individuals affected by intimate partner violence and gained experience in client engagement, referrals, documentation, as well as psychoeducational and group sessions.

Christine also has several years of healthcare experience from institutions such as Holy Cross Germantown Hospital, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, and Shady Grove Adventist Hospital. Most recently, she worked as a Patient Relations Specialist at Holy Cross Germantown Hospital, where she helped patients and families navigate complex concerns and grievances, collaborated with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, and advocated for resolutions. Earlier in her career, Christine served as a Mental Health Associate and Art Therapy Counselor in a hospital-based psychiatric setting for both adults and adolescents.

Christine is dedicated to helping clients recognize their strengths, build resilience, develop effective coping skills, and work toward meaningful resolutions and positive changes in their lives. She values creating a therapeutic environment built on trust, empathy, collaboration, and respect. Her clinical interests include working with adults and families facing anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, and significant life transitions.

Christine earned her Bachelor of Science in Sociology with a minor in Psychology from Rutgers University, and she holds an associate degree in Buying and Merchandising from the Fashion Institute of Technology/SUNY in New York. She is currently completing her Master of Social Work at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and expects to graduate in May 2027.
